Graduation Ceremony - 2011

Annual Parents Teacher Meeting

On Saturday, 30th July, 2011, the annual parents and teachers meeting was held on the school campus in Kabesa. The purpose of the meeting was to share with the parents the performance of their children and discuss any problems related to the children. [ READ MORE ]

International Tigers Day

On Friday, 29th July 2011, coinciding with the International Tigers day in Bhutan, an art competition on the Theme “Tiger conservation” was organized by the Royal Society for the Protection of Nature (RSPN) in Thimphu.  Nine different schools from across Thimphu participated to celebrate the occasion in the Children’s park near the Changlimethang ground in Thimphu.[ READ MORE ]

The National news channel, Bhutan Broadcasting Service (BBS) made a special program on Choki Traditional Art School which aired on the 18th August 2011. The program formed part of the news covering all the 20 districts in Bhutan.

Final Year Study Tour 2011

The final year students of CTAS have just returned from their study tour around Bhutan, visiting historical sites like Dzongs, temples, souvenir production centers, contemporary art studios, national painting school and other areas of interest and significance. Annual School Picnic 2011

This year the annual school picnic was held on 19th November near the river side in Kabesa village. Various games and dance competitions were organized among the students and staff to make the picnic interesting and memorable.  Staff and students were also divided into small groups and were asked to prepare a dish each for the lunch. Final Year Special Skills Development Program

The final year students of the wood carving section had a three day special skills development session from the specialist wood carver (mask making), Mr. Tshagay from the National Institute of Zorig Chusum.  The program took place 7th – 9th November at the school.  [ READ MORE ]

Training on contemporary art

14 students from CTAS took part in the training on contemporary art at VAST (Modern Art Studio) in Thimphu. The training is being organized by the Department of Information and Media in collaboration with VAST studio in Thimphu from 7th – 25th November, 2011. [ READ MORE ]

Blood Donation by CTAS

On 5th August, the school received a letter from the Health Assistant, Basic Health Unit in Dechencholing requesting blood donations for the emergency patients in the health unit.  Around 50 students and staff immediately volunteered to donate their blood. [ READ MORE ]

Health advocacy program for women - 10th June 2011

The educational program on Uterus cancer for women was conducted by one of the senior Health Assistance (HA) in CTAS campus. The one hour session was attended by the girls, female staff of CTAS and few other female house wives from the neighborhood. [Read More]

The Principal and one senior teacher of CTAS attended a two week workshop on “Training the Trainers(TOT)” From 23rd May till 4th June, 2011 in Thimphu. The workshop was organized by the Ministry of Labour and Human Resources (MoLHR). [Read More]

The school received as a gift eight computers and one printer from Hewlett Packard and the Fontana Foundation.  It has always been a wish of CTAS to have computers in the school so that our students would have the opportunity to learn basic computer skills and computer aided design (CAD). The 11th Foundation day of CTAS was celebrated on 21st May 2011 at the school campus in Kabesa. Sonam Rinchen, The Director of Human resources, Ministry of Labour and Human Resources graced the occasion. On Monday, 11th April, a one day intra house volleyball competition was organized and played in the school volley ground. The students were divided into four groups/houses, namely Tak, Singye, Chung and Druk. [Read More]

On the 15th of March, 2011 at around 11.30AM. There was a very fierce wind storm in the Kabesa vally which blew off the roof of our boys hostel and severely damaged the old classroom building roof. However, given the big damage caused by the wind storm, we were very lucky and blessed that none of our students and staff was unhurt. [Read More]

On the 11th March 2011, a team from the Ministry of Health visited CTAS and had a meeting with the staff and students on the topic “ WATER SAFETY PLAN”.  During the whole day meeting, they educated the students on the importance of maintaining clean and hygiene water source. [Read More]
