NEW ADMISSION 2012

The admission interviews for the academic year 2012 were held on 15th March at the school campus in Kabesa, Thimphu. 50 students came for interviews and applied for 23 study places. [ READ MORE ]

BERNINA SEWING MACHINES

In March 2012, Choki Traditional Art School received five sewing machines as a donation from Swiss company BERNINA. The donation was made possible through the support of Arianne Moser from Fontana Foundation. [ READ MORE ]

HIS MAJESTY tHE KING VISITS CTAS

On 20th April 2012, His Majesty the King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck visited the Choki Traditional Art School. His Majesty who is a strong advocate of Bhutan’s cultural preservation and its promotion met and interacted with the students and staff of the school for more than two hours. [ READ MORE ]

INTER INSTITUTE EXCHANGE PROGRAM

An Inter-Institute Exchange Program was held from 12th to 23rd March 2012 between the principals of both public and private training institutes. A total of 23 different training providers across the country participated in the program, which was sponsored and organized by the Ministry of Labour and Human Resources. PHOTOKIDZ

A group of volunteers led by Wee Tan from Photokidz, an organization based in Singapore, visited CTAS on the 12th & 14th March, 2012. Photokidz is a program to engage and inspire under-served children in developing countries - to encourage creativity, to develop communication skills and to nurture confidence in each child - through the magic of photography. TRAINING OF TRAINERS

The last module of the Training of Trainers(TOT) organized by the Ministry of Labour and Human Resources (MOLHR) was conducted from 16th April to 28th April 2012 at NRDCL conference hall in Thimphu. The main objective of the training was the assessment methodology, development of authentic assessment schemes and development of powerful test item. [ READ MORE ]

12th FOUNDATION DAY CELEBRATION

The school celebrated its 12th anniversary on 16th May 2012. The Hon’ble Minister Lyonpo Minjur Dorji, Ministry of Home and Culture Affairs was the guest of honor. The occasion was also graced by the presence of Mario and Elsa Fontana from the Fontana Foundation, David and Jennifer Bidwell from the Himalayan Youth Foundation, Walter Zahnd and Elisabeth Gehrig from Switzerland, and few other supporters from within Bhutan and abroad. [ READ MORE ]

SOLAR HOT WATER SYSTEM AT CTAS

Since May this year the students of CTAS, both boys and girls are able to take hot showers in their bathrooms at the school. NEW EMBROIDERY MACHINES INSTALLED

In April this year, the embroidery section of CTAS received 5 new embroidery machines with the financial support from Symon & Louise Visser, Netherlands and John H Deode and Jean A Deode. The integration of the new embroidery machines with the traditional method of embroidery will best prepare our students for the market. [ READ MORE ]

NEW WATER SOURCE FOR CTAS

CTAS has now received a separate water source for the school. Earlier the water source was shared with the local community which often resulted in water shortages for the school. Two new water tanks with the capacity of 3000 liters and 2000 liters were constructed on the school compound. [ READ MORE ]
